D810 images not displaying properly in preview app

So when I open an image like something I took from Photo Booth from Finder in Preview app, it loads fine. However, when I open a high res image JPG from my Nikon D810, the image loads initially, then quickly blanks out to all white. If I use the magnifier tool, it does show me magnified portions of the image, but the whole image won't show. Is there a maximum size limitation with preview app?

BTW, I don't think this repro'd before I updated to 10.10.3 (was 10.10.2). Is this an issue with Apple decommissioning iPhoto?

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

As a test, do they appear fine in Photos, PS, Lightroom or whatever you use?

works fine in Lightroom. Note these were copied over network from ntfs in windows PC to mac desktop.

That could be the problem, could you import a photo directly onto your iMac and see if that works?

Hi,

I'm having the exact same problem since I did the update. It's only D810 jpgs. I imported my files directly from the camera to the computer. It's definitely something that Apple did. This is very annoying and I would really love to know a solution.

Suddenly started happening with panoramic photos from iPhone 6+ as well. Seems like it could very well be a size issues...

So this doesn't repro for smaller images from my other cameras. It does look to be size related. In fact, for one of my panoramic stich photos from D810, it crashed and caused an OS-level reboot.

So, I'm new to this whole Mac thing, and this isn't a very great first experience 🙂. Question is, does Apple monitor this stuff and/or will they hotfix? How do I actually escalate this as a bug?

You could try some of these options here.

Mac OS X: How to troubleshoot a software issue - Apple Support

OR Follow these steps as a general software issue troubleshoot

finder > go > ( alt key ) > library

caches (delete all files not folder)

cookies (delete all files not folder)

launch agents (delete all files not folder)

saved aplication state (delete all files not folder)

finder > go > computer > mac hd > library

caches (delete all files not folder)

launch agents (delete all files not folder)

launch deamons (delete all files not folder)

then > restart

If neither of these help then contact apple support directly, unless anyone else can help on here.

I have a D810 as well and a 5K iMac and the high res jpegs are glitching on me too. Lightroom CC/6, Photoshop CC, all fine but it has been since the update. We need to all assault apple quick on this for a bug fix.

Hi, have you solved this? I'm experiencing this now with my d3200 lightroom exported jpg files, using the main drive of the MacBook, not an external one. Thank you.
