How do I get rid of this over 4 GB of 'other' data on my iPhone 4s and where is it coming from?

I would like to not have to restore my phone but if I do have to restore it, is there a way I can do that without having to delete my contacts? This 'Other' data is taking up way too much space on my phone and it needs to go but I have no idea where it's coming from.
