Quickly tap the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time. The resultant picture will be in your Camera Roll.

The simplest way to make iPad screenshot is by pressing the Sleep button and Home button. It's my first choice to share my iPad screen with my friends. And if you have a broken Home button or a badly damaged Sleep/Wake button, you can use Assistive Touch to do this trick. To take iPad screenshot with it, just press the Assistive Touch icon and tap "Device > More > Screenshot", then your screenshot will be saved in your Camera Roll.
