mac running slow suddenly

Dear All,

My mid-2012 13" MacBook Pro suddenly became extremely slow yesterday evening. I restarted it several times, installed the latest software updates without any improvement. This morming I did the following:

- I removed com.adobe.aaa.updater-1.0.plist from the /Library/LaunchAgents as I saw in the discussion that this could be a problem

- I ran EtreCheck (report below)

Surprisingly everything seems now back to normal (?). But I'm concerned something might be wrong. Particularly: should I be worried about the disk errors? Should I run a disk repair in DiskUtility?

Many thanks for your help,

Julien

It won't do any harm to do a disk verify and repair. Don't use the computer's Disk Utility but the one in Recovery mode.

Start up by holding down the Command and R keys together and choose Disk Utility. Then Verify and repair your startup disk if necessary and do Repair Permissions.

Also, your report shows Spotify web helper linked with crashes. Maybe you should remove that.

The startup drive is failing, or there is some other internal hardware fault. If you don't already have a complete, up-to-date backup, do not try to repair the volume. Repairing it is a waste of time in any case.

Back up all data on the drive immediately if you don't already have a current backup. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair

Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.

*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.
