Q: Both iPhoto Library and Photos Library are the same size

Both my iPhoto Library and Photo Library (in Finder) come up as having 35 GB. Does this mean it has duplicated the images over or is there a shortcut to my iPhoto Library in my Photos Library (hence having the same size)? I'd rather only use my Photos Library.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), Photos

No. Photos uses hard links to the photos it imported from iPhoto and does not use up any additional space even though the Finder reports the size the same: Photos saves disk space by sharing images with your iPhoto or Aperture libraries - Apple Support.
