Safari Can't Open the Page error

Hi everyone,

I upgraded to Yosemite recently because I thought the "Safari Can't Open the Page" error was a result of an out of date browser on my OS.

I'm still experiencing the following problems even after upgrading to Yosemite.

I've searched a number of forums when trying to find an answer to this question, and nothing is working.

My problem:

This link won't open: https://vimeo.com/125364976

When I try to navigate to the home page of the Vimeo website I get the "Safari Can't Open the Page" because Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server.

What I've done to try to fix the issue:

I've tried accessing the same URL using Chrome, cleared cache, reset all website data, turned the firewall off, changed the DNS settings to 8.8.8.8, set Keychain Certificates to default settings, deleted all of My Certificates from the Keychain Access (which is possibly a stupid thing to do but it's done now and I can't fix that if this is an issue), and turned the Telstra ADSL Modem off at the wall and switched off my computer.

The Vimeo video works when I use my iPhone whilst over a Cellular line (4G network in Australia).

I have no idea what to do next.

And suffice to say, I'm frustrated!

HELP! Please 🙂

Warm regards

Merryn

Try opening the site in Private Browsing Mode first and then try it.

Thank you so much for replying dominic23. Unfortunately your great idea didn't work. I got the same error when navigating to the link: http://vimeo.com/125364976. And when I entered www.vimeo.com into a private browser, received this error:

"Safari Can't Open the Page www.vimeo.com because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again."

But when I use my telephone's cellular network, I can access Vimeo and the above URL ok.

Strange!

Start up in Recovery mode. In the OS X Utilities screen, select Get Help Online. A clean copy of Safari will launch. No plugins, such as Flash, will be available. While in Recovery, you'll have no access to your saved bookmarks or passwords, so make a note of those before you begin, if they're needed for the test.

Test. After testing, restart as usual and post the results.
