why does my macbook air say i have 118.6gb of apps but on the finder it says i only have 9 gb

do you know when u click on the apple button on the left hand side corner it says about this mac and then go into storage . my storage says i have used 118.6gb of apps but i only have instagram, googlechrome, skype and minecraft so help!!!!!!!!😠

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), its the early 2014 version

Re-index Macintosh HD.



Spotlight reindexing will take a while to finish.

System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy

You will see a new category “Other” in the Storage Display.

Note:

If you don’t have Macintosh HD icon on the desktop,

Finder > Preferences > General > Show these items on the desktop:

Enable “Hard disks”.
