Can you open/work on Pages '08 documents on Yosemite?

Can you open/work on Pages '08 documents in Yosemite? I'm waiting to upgrade from Mavericks as I've heard it won't work with older Pages documents. This is critical question as all my main documents are Pages '08.

Thanks, Peter. So to recap, I can upgrade to Yosemite and still use pages '08 (on both my iMac and MacBook Pro), but need to to avoid upgrading to the new Pages 5.5.2 as it won't open my Pages 3.0.3 docs in Yosemite. Do I have this right? I like sticking with the older Pages as it does exactly what I need it to do without any issues, including exporting docs in Word.

Either before, or immediately after you upgrade to Yosemite, visit System Preferences ▸ App Store, and uncheck the following to prevent the App Store automatically downloading and installing Pages v5.5.2:

  • Download newly available updates in the background
  • Install app updates
  • Automatically download apps purchased on other Macs

Leave the following checked:

  • Automatically check for updates
  • Install system data files and security updates
