Q: XSAN 2.1.1 Crash
Dear Concerns,
We are using XSAN 2.1.1 in our facility with 12 fibre clients (Mac OS X 10.5.8 with FCP7 editing). Recently we rebuilt XSAN 2.1.1 using the same 2 years old HDDs in single VTRAK (E-Class). Using the following procedure:
1) made 5 logic unit numbers i.e. 1 (Raid 1 for metadata of 2 drives), 2 (Raid 5 of 3 drives for data), 3(Raid 5 of 3 drives for data), 4(Raid 5 of 3 drives for data), 5(Raid 5 of 3 drives for data) 2 spares. Drives used are of 2TB
2) quick initialised the Logic numbers
3) Reinstalled Metadata controllers
4) Created SAN and than Volume (with same settings as previous Volume)
After completion of LUNs we created the Volume and provided to clients. But the Read/Write speed was drastically slow.
Users used the Volume for the day and than controllers stopped responding and Volume crashed. We again created the Volume and faced the same scenario.
We never used Open directory from last 6 years and volume worked fine. Have DNS configured for controllers and controllers are resolving the DNS.
We tried to check the Read/Write speed by directly connecting the controllers to VTRAK but issue remains the same.
Kindly help
