I just got a 5 and would like to transfer everything from my 4s to it but since the screen is broken, it won't let me type in my passcode. Is there not a way to override the passcode?

If you already had it set up with a sync relationship established with a computer running iTunes, you could back it up there without having to enter the passcode (unless you had changed the passcode since the last backup. Otherwise, no. It's too late to back it up now.
I've sync'd it before to the very same computer I'm trying to back it up on now and have not changed the passcode. So you're saying there is a way to do it without the passcode? If so, how?
If it's prompting you for a passcode now, then there is no sync relationship set up. Maybe you were syncing it using a different User account on the computer, or were signed in with a different Apple ID. When was the last time you did so?
October 1st of last year. I could at least back my 5 up to that back up, couldn't I?I have not changed ID's.
