I am trying to apply the censor effect to a clip and it doesn't have any effect on the clip. I checked and there are several effects that don't have any effect when applied to a clip. Some examples are halftone, graphic, pixelate, vignette. However others seem to work. I uninstalled and reinstalled FCP but the effects still don't work. Ideas?
G5 2.0 Dual , Mac OS X (10.3.9)
Which versions of OS and FCP X, and what are the media and project settings?

10.10.3 - latest build and 10.2 FCP. Using a MacBook Pro 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7 with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M card. Project is 720P 25fps

Did you delete the preferences (hold down command and option when starting FCP X and confirm)?
What is the format of the media, and type of camera?
It is a video clip that I had that is 1280X720 mov file that I imported. I deleted FCP and all the preference files before I did the reinstall. I also did the command and option on startup.
I also imported a clip for a Panasonic HD camcorder which was 1920X1080 29.97i and started a new project and the effects don't work with that either.
Try running FCP X from a new user account. Does it work there?
Didn't work in the new account either.
Would you be able to upload a short section of one of these clips to a site like Dropbox so we could download and see whether it's something specific to the clip?

Here is a clip that I cannot add the effect onto.
I don't get the on screen controls or the effect when I apply the effect. What you have is what I expected. Is there a setting where I could have turned off certain effects?
What exactly are you doing? Post screen shots.
These effects don't even show up in preview when scrubbing through the effect. Other effects do. As you can see I have applied the Censor effect but nothing happens on the clip.
Here is the same clip with the halftone applied.
Got sidetracked. Just to add, I had no problem adding the censor effect either.

Your tech information is very out of date I think. What are you complete system specs including the graphics card?
