Apple TV will not connect Ethernet to time capsule

I Have a new TC that replaced one that recently died. When Apple TV is plugged in via Ethernet to the TC it does not detect the Ethernet connection. However if I bypass the TC and plug the Ethernet from wall to the Apple TV it will show an Ethernet connection. Is this a dhcp nat issue or IPv6 or something else? Other devices (PS4 ,dvr ) work fine with TC ethernet

OK thanks. There is no reason your AppleTV should not use the Time Capsule's Ethernet port. According to Apple, if the AppleTV detects a viable Ethernet connection it will use it in lieu of an equally viable Wi-Fi connection.

Use the same Ethernet cable to rule out a potentially defective one.

Try "forgetting" the AppleTV's network settings:

If that doesn't work, reset the AppleTV's settings to their factory defaults:

You would need to configure it again.

If that still doesn't work, it calls the TC's Ethernet ports into question. I understand you already addressed that by substituting other devices, but that's the only remaining potential culprit. Troubleshooting the TC essentially involves a "hard reset", which does not affect its backups.

Sometimes a "hard reset" is required to dislodge a recalcitrant internal parameter. It will not affect the TC's existing backups, but you will need to reconfigure it with AirPort Utility.

To "hard reset" an AirPort Base Station: make sure it's powered up, then gently press and hold its tiny reset button. Don't apply any more force than required to feel a tactile click. Keep it depressed for five to ten seconds, long enough for its LED to flash amber rapidly. Release the reset button. Then, the LED will glow amber steadily for about a minute. Then, it will flash amber, slowly, about once every second or two, waiting for you to configure it with AirPort Utility.
