Apr 20, 2015 5:02 PM in response to errolfromkentby den.thed,You might also try Bluetooth File Exchange. see > https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201820
I don't have a Samsung GS2, but I have no problems using Bluetooth File Exchange with other Bluetooth Devices including my lame-o Motorola flip phone. It's not elegant, but it works.

Apr 21, 2015 11:46 AM in response to den.thedby Ray Volluz,Today I downloaded a new version of Kies, 3.1.0.15042_6, and it seemed to work fine. I was able to backup my Note 3 running Lollipop with no hesitation. Files transferred to my Mac running Yosemite, OS X 10.10.3, easily. The download is available at http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/

May 6, 2015 12:20 PM in response to errolfromkentby Ray Volluz,On my iMac, 2012, through a USB hub, running the Kies version I listed, it worked fine. I wasn't using a particularly good USB cable either. I do have "Firewall: Off" in my "Security & Privacy" panel in "System Preferences" if that could have anything to do with it. (Yes, I do have other security software, and I turn off my WiFi when not using it) My Note 3 isn't the newest hardware.
I do remember one tip that was given in one of the blogs I read when searching for ways to make it work previously. I had to go to the "Settings" and select the "General" tab and then choose the "Developer options" menu option. Scrolling down to the "USB debugging" section, I clicked the check box. The description reads, "Debugging mode launches when USB is connected." I'm not sure that this made the difference, but I have always had it checked when it has worked for me. This is in Android 5.0, Lollipop.
