i restored my entire macbook due to unexplainable "other" files weighing it down. Now I can't find iphoto. where do i download this and how come it didnt restore on its own? I looked on the app store and itunes but couldnt find it. Please advise.

iPhoto is not part of OS X. It comes with iLife. iLife was pre-installed on your computer, so you should find it on the Software Restore discs that came with your computer. If Lion was pre-installed, then you can re-download it from the Purchases page of the App Store.

Reinstall iPhoto, like you originally installed it. Which MacOS X version do you have, and how did you originally install iPhoto?
The problem is, that iPhoto is no longer sold at the AppStore. If your iPhoto version came preinstalled with MacOS X 10.7 or later, look at the Purchases tab of the AppStore and reinstall from there.
For earlier versions reinstall from the disk, that came with your Mac. But these earlier versions will not run on Yosemite. Which version do you have now?
