10.2 update has deleted my events

I have just updated my FCP events to 10.2 as I was prompted to do when i updated the program and am now missing several events in a library which was stored on an external HD, and all of my raw footage and projects! The database backups can still be seen in my backups folder, but none of the original media? this happened once before when updating libraries and I stupidly should've learnt my lesson and backed up. Has this happened to anyone else and does anyone know any miracle to fix it?
