2008 Imac-slow

My machine is running really slow..almost virus like..bring it in or is there something I can do..I am good with specific instructions... or is it just too old,time to upgrade? It has OS X Yos on it with 4 Gb memory

Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, Yosemite is running slowly. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

Disk Utility to verify and try and fix any issues.

Use the built-in recovery disk to reinstall OS X while keeping your files and user settings intact.
