I received an iTunes gift card from Canada, but I can't use it because I live in the US. Is there any way to redeem it in the USA?

I was given an iTunes gift card from someone in Canada. When I went to redeem it today, it says it is only redeemable in Canada and I live in the USA with an american iTunes account. Is there any way I can redeem this gift card or is it a complete waste?
