Apple TV does not connect with my mac book

I purchased an Apple TV unit and I am having problem with homesharing from my mac book to the TV.

I am using the same internet access; updated my iOS & apple tv (upgrades) and keep getting the message that the TV cannot access my library.

The icon does not show my mac book task bar or on the right hand corner

What do I do next?
