Why is my quicktime recording freeze?

I was recording my screen while a lecture was up. I am unable to download the lecture so I thought the screen recording would work best. I downloaded sound flower to get capture the audio. On 2 different attempts, after about 15 seconds, the recording paused but the audio would continue. When recording, I watched the video the whole time it was recorded and it did not pause. Any suggestions?
