Addin Contacts

I bought an iPhone for my mother and would like to setup her contacts for her but am hoping there is some way to do it from my computer so I don't have to type on the small iPhone screen keyboard, so the question is is there a way to add contacts from your computer? I don't have any of the contacts I want setup anywhere on my computer so it is not a matter of syncing, they will all have to be input manually.

Also as soon as I connect it to my computer it sees it as my iPhone and I don't want it to sync to anything on my computer or to have my computer sync to it. I turned off every sync check box I could find in settings but when I attach it to my compute it automatically comes up and says syncing XXXs iPhone.
