Garageband to Mix and Master 8 Track Recording?

I have been using a digital 8 track to record my band. It makes wav files which I then import to my mac and mix and master with Audacity. I find Audacity difficult to use, time consuming and very limiting. I would like to be able to automate volume levels and pan, and apply compression, delay, etc as I am listening to the mix. As my time to "play" is limited, I do not want to invest a tone of time into a new software package if it can't do these things. Can anyone please tell me if Garageband can do these things?
