iTunes won't accept Existing Apple ID

I am a new Macbook user and recently bought the new Macbook Air 13' (2015 update). The problem I am facing is that I can't login the iTunes store using an operational Apple ID. I have confirmed the details of the ID and password, and am using the same details for FaceTime. However, whenever I use the same login details in iTunes, the following message is displayed:


"This Apple ID has not been used with the iTunes Store.

Please review your account information"


That's it...


Please advice on how to go about this.
