I've been trying to run Windows 8 on an iMac at work - we installed it via Bootcamp, but for some reason the screen resolution is distorted and, for lack of a better word, squished. Does anyone know how I might be able to solve this problem without having to use Parallels?

You don't indicated anything about the Mac, what year, GPU, RAM version of OS X or anything so helping you is impossible. Check to see if your iMac meets Windows 8 minimum system requirements and if you need to post again, I'd strongly suggest using the Boot Camp forum.

to get a sharp image you need to run the screen in it's native resolution
to do this you would likely need to install the correct video card driver rather then the generic vga lowest common denominator one
it would resort to if you did not install the apple bootcamp drivers
