Iphone 5 not working after updating apps

Phone had a huge picture of a flower, I could not switch it off, and after holing the button down to turn the power off, I now have a blank screen, but the phone will still not switch off and my scheduled alarms still go off and stay on snooze because I can't disarm it.

All I remamber doing is updating my apps earlier.
