yosemite download does not start

I recently upgraded to Yosemite and want to reinstall it from scratch.

So, I logged on App Store click on the "download" button, which is active and select the "continue" button for a full download, but then other than a cogwheel indicating some sort of activity... nothings appears to happen; no progress bar, no error messages... Any ideas anybody?
