If I select iPhoto it loads, but does not show on my screen, only when I do a four finger swipe, it comes up. If I select it, it goes away again. Please help, what am I doing wrong? I have no new updates. I have restarted my computer, but the same things happens.

By défaut a four finger swipe moves between full screen applications - I suspect you have put iPhoto into full screen - try hitting ESC to drop out of full screen

You may try these steps:
1. Go to your Library (open the Go menu with the Alt key pressed)
2. Go to the Preferences folder and locate the iPhotos folder
3. Move this folder to your desktop.
4. Restart your Mac and try to open iPhotos once again. If everything works fine, you can trash the old preferences file.
Note that D.Cohen's solution will reset any user changes that y=have been made to the preferences including library location, print products country etc - it is safe but the user must be aware that tthey have to redo any personal preference settings as this resets the preferences back to factory default

I have tried all of the above and nothing has worked. I ran a diagnostic and there are no problems reported.
To clarify,
I want to open iPhoto. I click on my icon along the bottom bar. It jumps once and highlights. My top bar says I am in iPhoto but there is nothing on my screen. I did a four finger swipe and it comes up as if I want to switch between applications. I then see iPhoto and try to select it. As soon as I click on it, it disappears down again. It is very strange and I am not sure how or when this happened. I am hoping it is just something stupid I have done and is easily sorted?
