my 5th generation won't sync to my computer at all....help please!!

it is charging but will not sync. the last time I was able to do so was march 25th. I'm not sure if it's because of the update or not but it will not even recognize my ipod. Does anyone have a clue to why this is happening? I've tried everything that I can think of and I just don't know what to do. 😢

What exactly happens when you try to sync?

Does iTunes see the iPod?

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?

Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?

If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?

Do the songs play in iTunes?

Does any media now sync to the iPod?

Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod

Try syncing using the manual method

Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod

If if iTunes does not see the iPod:

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X

Or

See

iPhone, iPad, or iPod not recognized in iTunes for Windows

- I would start with

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP

or

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

- Then do the other actions of:

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

paying special attention to item #5

- New cable and different USB port

- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

i had this same problem. after countless hour of searching and uninstalling/B.S. that apple support and the so called"community specialists" tell you to do i finally figured it out.

you need to use an apple brand cord. aftermarket usb/charging/firewire cables will not work to sync ipod/iphone/ipad. they will charge your things but will not transfer info.

i repeat for people wasting hours searching for an idea...........

you need an apple brand usb cord to sync ipod.

you need an apple brand usb cord to sync iphone.

you need an apple brand usb to transfer any data.

apple should sticky this solution at the top of all their support pages so people don't waste their time going through all the worthless steps apple tells you to do.
