iphone actions are controlling netflix on my mac

My iphone is controlling netflix on my mac, skipping to different parts of the movie based on what I type on my phone. WTH?? Anyone else experienced the iphone 6 controlling their mac strangely like this?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
