My schools tech person told just the freshman that apple hasn't authorized school iPads to have FaceTime, so they took it off. To me that seems sketchy. So I want to know and if they haven't said that, well i'm getting FaceTime back then. 🙂

That's not true. It's not a restriction put in place by Apple, but rather by the school, likely because they don't want students FaceTiming when they should be listening to the teacher.

yes, but they told us freshman can't have it, and only took it off our iPads but yet even if its not true our V.P. said he doesn't mind us having FaceTime, thats just what the tech person said.
Sorry, it sounds like they are school property, thus school rules.

I am a "tech person" for a school district and manage our fleet of iPads. We use configuration profiles to manage iPad settings, including restrictions. One restriction that is available is the ability to disallow Facetime. My guess is that your tech person has this configuration profile enabled to disallow Facetime (which is why you don't see it on your device).
