Start up
my pro book won't go past the start up screen. I think that it's trying to load the OS, but not sucessfully getting there. Any advice on this?
What happens when you try to start up while holding the shift key (to boot into Safe Mode)?

It's the same problem. I think it's a software issue, as the progress bar is present. But it only goes so far.
If Safe Mode does not work, it's highly doubtful that it's a software issue. Running in Safe Mode will rebuild OS X's caches, and no third-party processes are run at launch.
