I turned on iCloud photo library on my iPhone 6 plus and i can see all the photos on my iPad but i cannot see my iPhone pictures on my mac in the photos app..the iCloud photo library on my mac is turned on and uploading pictures at the moment. Mac is not updating pictures from my iPhone though..Any ideas on what I am doing wrong??

I am having same issue on my Mac which is currently in third day of uploading to iCloud.
Photos from the Mac are showing on my iPhone and iPad and all Mac album names are displayed even if still empty.
However the new Photos app on my Mac is not showing any photos recently created on my iPhone or iPad and
none of the iOS album names are showing either.
is it possible that iOS photos and albums won't be available for viewing on the Mac Photos app until it finishes uploading?
