Menu Bar Menus in AppleScript

I have a MacBook1,1 running Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.

I am writing an application using AppleScript but have a question. I want to have menus (at least 1) on the top menu bar like other apps do.

Currently it looks like this.

Notice the greyed out "About A.I." and "Quit A.I."

I would like to get these 'un-greyed out.'

Is it possible to add an "About 'This App'" window and also allow it to quit when "Quit A.I." is clicked or when 'Command-Q' is pressed. Thank you in advance!
