Imported Pictures not showing up?

A friend emailed my pics from her iPhone of a trip we recently took together and I imported them into iPhoto on my macbook but am unable to share them or upload them to another site to print. It's like they aren't there. When I go into iPhoto i can see them, but when I attempt to upload them to an online printing site they do not show up in the album?Any ideas?
