My iPod 5th Gen went black?

It was fully charged from being on the charger all night. it was fine this morning and then it just went black! And to make matters worse my home button is broken so I can't do a reset! Is there anything else I can try or do I need to take it in to get fixed?

Oh and when I try and plug it into my computer, it's not recognized.

iPod touch, iOS 7.1

I've seen that and tried it, but now when ever I open it it says something about it being illegal and won't let me try it anymore.

Could be due to:

Thanks to a comment by a user, RecBoot has not been known to work on 64 bit machines.

DO NOT USE IT ON x64!
