3rd Gen Apple TV keeps resetting my TV so that I can't use it

Hi Everyone,

So my 3rd Gen Apple TV has been acting up that when I am on the main screen with all of the apps my TV will not stay on for more than 5 seconds before turning off and turning back on like it has been reset. It is a Sony that I bought back in 2009, never had a single issue up until this. I can still go into settings before it turning off and that stays on just fine, so I have just been using AirPlay from that screen. If anyone has had this problem before PLEASE help me out here it is really frustrating!
