iTunes update won't see my iPhones

I just updated to iTunes 12.1.2 and it won't see either of my 2 iPhones. They just show up in Windows explorer as Apple iPhone and the phones ask me if I want to trust the computer. Why won't iTunes see my phones?

This solved the problem. The Apple Mobile Device USB driver wasn't installing when I plugged in the phones. These instructions tell you how to install the driver.
