Play only m4a files

I have all my music on my desktop in m4a format in iTunes but I have created mp3 files which I copy into my mobile Window's devices as I get new ones. The mp3 songs are in the same folders as the m4a songs.

When playing iTunes on my desktop (which has a decent sound system), can iTunes be set up so it only plays the m4a tracks?

itunes-OTHER, Windows 7, .nrg files

Yes, create a smart playlist which only lists tracks containing 'kind' contains 'aac', if you also want to include Apple Lossless then add an additional rule of 'kind' contains 'lossless' and set it to list tracks that match 'any' rule not 'all' rules.
