iMac Feezes with Pink/Green Pixel Boxes
My mid-2010 iMac freezes after random strips of green and pink pixel boxes appear on the screen (see image below). Has anyone else experienced this and managed to fix it?
iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)
I've heard this could be a logic board issue
Mine is doing the exact same thing since updating Yosemite. Thought it might be the graphics card. Hope they come up with a solution pronto. I'm a digital artist, and I can't run any of my software without the graphics wigging out like this and the application crashing.
What machine did you recently update to Yosemite? Are you also on a mid-2010 iMac or something else?
I went to Yosemite right when it was released and I can't remember if I had this problem before then. It would be nice if it was just some weird and easily fixable software issue and not a larger hardware issue.
27" iMac, mid-2010. Going to try to revert to the last version of Yosemite from a Time Machine backup and see if the problem goes away. Never had this problem until 10.10.3 update.
I ended up blasting compressed air through all of the open vents/ports and then reseating the RAM. This seemed to do the trick. I'm guessing there was dust building up that caused some heating issues. If it happens again I may invest in the right tools to open the thing up and do a thorough cleaning.
