How to sharpen in photos

<sigh>

Am I correct in thinking that Sharpening is another "feature" that isn't present in Photos?

So if not, not a problem, as you can always do that using an external editor like in dear old iPhoto - except of course you can't, as that's another apparently non-essential feature.

Not to mention screwing up smart folders when imported from iPhoto, not to mention where's "my photo stream", not to mention.. oh, I give up.

So, a week of swearing at Photos later, it looks like it's back to iPhoto while saving up for Lightroom or something else that can do the job properly 😟

As much as I've been an Apple fanboi over the years, I am completely baffled by their approach and attitude here, in what seems merely like a blatant attempt to force people to adopt their tediously slow iCloud subscription service. In 8 years of Macness, I am now very much thinking that "it just works" no longer applies, and with it, the main reason I moved to Apple in the first place.

TO sharpen :

click "edit", then the Adjust button. Use the "add" button to add the advanced editing options, and click the down arrows in the adjustments to reveal further options.

Another fake "new and improved" program where iPhoto offered far more control and WORKED. No even after you find the hidden "add more" tools, when you try to sharpen and move cursor NOTHING HAPPENS. I deleted Photos on my old iMac and am trying to figure out how to get the old iPhotos back for my laptop...I'm so over Apple. Since Steve died they don't honor "APPLECARE"; they don't anymore and broke contracts with their Apple Authorized resellers and repair, because the GREED was too all consuming and they WANT IT ALL for themselves. No longer a fan of the company. In the old days I had two 17" laptops replaced one even ten days before Applewedontcare expired. Try that these days...the running line they bark out like zombies now is "water damage" your contract is null and void. Hence I did NOT and NEVER WILL buy Apply-we-dontcare again.

Actually have grown to dislike it intensely, but I'm grandfathered in. iPhone 6, 6s, 7, 7.4, 8, 9 all crap feeding like vampires off the mac addicts which I am sure are fewer everyday. We're on to you Apple. WHy I buy all my music on Amazon. A company that cares and will do ANYTHING to keep my allegiance. You lost mine and my money. I buy as little as possible from Apple.

Now, how can I find the old iPhoto for my new laptop if it hasn't been blocked by apple to force me into a program I find counter intuitive and that DOES NOT WORK.

WHY FIX WHAT AIN'T BROKE? OH TO MAKE MORE MONEY!!!
