I am thinking about getting ITunes Match
I know if i use Itunes Match to play a song from my pc it will streams it form the cloud
is this the same if i want to play it through my Ipad or does it have to be downloaded form the cloud first -if so will that not take up a lot of the space on my Ipad

You don't need to download a song before playing it but when you play a song , it is downloaded to a temporary cache.
