I can’t start up with target disk mode

Hi,

To make the boot for "Target Disk Mode" and after appearing the window to enter the password, I can't type any letter. After canceling the operation, appears the information "You can’t start up with target disk mode. / Insufficient privileges.".

I have already repairing permissions, I put my name with owner option in the HD (in Get Info)...

I tried to connect an iMac (i7) to a G3 (Blue and White) to install OS X (10.3 or 10.4) because I can't through the CD player.

I appreciate any information that would unlock this strange restriction.

If TDM = Target display mode. the old Mac does not meet the requirements:

From what I can tell, some old G3's could only play CD's and some could not.


Sorry, but I have no idea what DVD drives would be compatible with the G3. This link indicates that it depends upon the exact model you have:
