I can’t start up with target disk mode

Hi,

To make the boot for "Target Disk Mode" and after appearing the window to enter the password, I can't type any letter. After canceling the operation, appears the information "You can’t start up with target disk mode. / Insufficient privileges.".

I have already repairing permissions, I put my name with owner option in the HD (in Get Info)...

I tried to connect an iMac (i7) to a G3 (Blue and White) to install OS X (10.3 or 10.4) because I can't through the CD player.

I appreciate any information that would unlock this strange restriction.

The problem you face in trying to use the iMac DVD drive to install and OSX on the G3 is that the iMac thinks that the OSX DVD is to be installed on it and will reject it. You will have to use an external DVD drive in order to install the OSX on the G3.
