Apr 23, 2015 7:15 AM in response to hartanby léonie,Do you own a copy of Aperture 3? If Aperture 3 is already listed at the App Store among your purchases on the Purchases tab of the App Store, try the following:
- Move the incompatible Aperture 3 version from the Applications folder to the Trash, but don't empty the Trash.
- Reload the AppStore Purchases page by pressing the key combination ⌘R
- The App Store Purchase page should now show "install". Try to download and install.
If this does not work, contact the App Store Support for help: There is a "contact us" link among the Quick Links on the main AppStore page.

Apr 23, 2015 10:10 PM in response to léonieby hartan,Hi, ever since Yosemite 10.10.3 came out aperture does no longer appears under purchased items in the updates. It was there before the latest release of Yosemite but not now. even if I put mine in the trash. I did purchase it originally in the app store.

Apr 23, 2015 10:26 PM in response to hartanby léonie,For me it is still showing on the fourth tab "Purchases";
Are you signed into the AppStore with exactly the same Apple ID you used to purchase Aperture? And are your Language& Region settings set to the same country?
Aperture may be hidden - see this page, how to unhide purchases: Hide and unhide purchases in the Mac App Store - Apple Support
But the AppStore in your country may not offer Aperture at all any longer, not even for updates. Which country are you in?
In that case contact the App Store Support - there is link in the "Quick Links" pane on the first "Featured" tab.

Apr 23, 2015 11:06 PM in response to léonieby hartan,Yup I'm in australia now but purchased everything in Canada. I still log into the Canadian store and all my other purchases show up. I phoned Apple support as I still have my extended support but they told me that the aperture update is no longer available. I have to use photos. I don't think she really new much about aperture though. I found older versions on the Apple support download site but not 3.6. I will try your suggestion regarding hide and unhide. Will let you know how it goes

Apr 23, 2015 11:12 PM in response to hartanby hartan,Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, For some reason Aperture was hidden. I followed the link you gave me and there it was hidden so I unhid it and it showed up again, I am now downloading it and I'm a very happy camper. Better support here than apple support.

Aug 16, 2015 9:34 AM in response to léonieby Alan Levine,This did not work. I got a warning because my OS was not 10.10 (I run Mavericks) and it just re-downloaded the 3.5.1 version of Aperture I had.
I thought I understood I needed to bump to 3.6 before upgrading to Yosemite (my older laptop now has a borked version of Aperture because I upped that OS to Yosemite). Why does this have to be so hard to find an update? Sigh,

You can only update to Aperture 3.6 if you are running a MacOS X version, that is compatible with Aperture 3.6. Any version of Yosemite.
Mavericks is not compatible. Updating to Aperture 3.6 was easy while running MacOS X 10.10.2, before the 10.10.3 update with Photos was released and Apple pulled Aperture from the App Store. Now you can only update jumping directly to Yosemite.

Aug 16, 2015 12:11 PM in response to léonieby Alan Levine,This did not work on my other laptop that is upgraded to Yosemite. In the Apple Store under "preferences" the link to Aperture says "open" rather than "upgrade". Oh, this worked, close the Apple Store, drag the old application to the trash, go back to Apple Store, My Purchase. Now installing.
Someone send Apple a copy of their Interface Guidelines, this is hardly intuitive.
Thanks for clarifying the details. I must have been napping when they offered the 3.6 upgrade.

Yes, that is the way to do it. As long as Spotlight sees an application as installed, the App Store will not offer to install it., but will offer to open it. Moving Aperture to the Trash removes it from the Spotlight index.
