How do I delete the camera roll folders

How do I delete all the stupidly named folders from the camera roll on my iPod Touch (5th gen, latest iOS)?

I see them when I open the iPod as a drive on my Windows PC. They are located "Internal Storage/DCIM" and have names like "802KTVBE" and "965YCKIF".

They're all EMPTY since I moved all the images to my PC. (Deleting them from Windows DOES NOT WORK. I get an error saying the device is disconnected -- which it is not since I can copy files, just not delete.)..

TIA,

Owen

Hmmm. Looks like they delete automatically (if they're empty) when you reboot the iPod Touch. I wish I had some control over how they were named. Those hex-looking names are completely confusing when trying to copy off images...
