I need to have FCP 7 and FCP X on the same Mac running Yosemite. What are my options?

Mac Pro (Late 2013)

Version: 10.10.3 (14D131)

OSX Yosemite

Processor speed: 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5

Memory: 12 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 ECC

Graphics: AMD FirePro D300 2048 MB

I need to be able to edit FCP 7 projects, as I migrate to FCP X. Therefore, I need them on the same Mac. Is this possible? If so, how do I go about it?

Just to add that if you don't want to create a new partition, many people have found that the new software coexists quite well with Final Cut Studio by following the steps in the second option described in that support doc.

Unfortunately, while you can install Motion 4, the Yosemite upgrade broke it – which, among other things, means the send-to-Motion workflow is history,
