where are screen shots stored?

Hi all. OS 10.9.5, iMac 3.06 i3,8 gig RAM.

I've had this problem since I bought this computer, with 10.6.8 installed.

I should mention that I'm logged in as a user, and have a separate admin account. While in the User, I cannot create screenshots. I get an error message:

Yes, it's a dreaded Permissions error, of which this computer is fraught with...no amount of Disk Utility/Disk Warrior treatment will work, I'm resigned to fixing them manually.

So the question? Where does Mavericks store screen shots? Normally, on other systems I have, they go right to the desktop...how can I set that up for this user?
