force photos to search for faces

Is there a way to force Photos to search for faces, or will it only do it automatically when I have opened a "folder" of someone's face?

Photos searches for Faces in all photos all the time. There is no way to turn this off.

Sometime the automatic search does not find a face, even when the face seems to be clearly visible. In such a case, a button in the Info window (Command-I) will allow you too manually add a found face circle. Faces added this way are are shown in the Faces album but are not used by the algorithm which defines the search for this specific face.

I came back 3 months ago!! It is not recognising any photos from the trip at all. I also went and took a load of photos a couple of weekends ago of family and friends all of which have face already stored and it hasn't picked up any of them. It appears not to be working in the background at all, is there a way to force it? .......think I know the answer 😟
