How Do I Force Delete

I am unable to delete my Dropbox folder. I get message it is in use but it is not. I moved anything with dropbox in it to trash and restarted computer. Still unable to delete. How do I force delete?

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

I have followed the directions to uninstall dropbox. However dropbox folder remains in trash and I can't delete it. How do I delete trash now?

Thanks for the help. I had done all the steps you suggested but the dropbox file in my trash could not be deleted. I however tried secure delete and behold it deleted. Don't know why secure delete worked and delete would not but I'm a happy camper now.
