I had to erase my harddrive on my macbook pro a few months ago. I recently went to access my photos on the external hard drive which were saved as an iPhoto library. I was not able to open it because I no longer have iPhoto on my computer, and have also found that iPhoto no longer exists! I am having a difficult time finding a way to get iPhoto so I can open my iPhoto library. Any suggestions?

This is the trouble with downloaded software, it can be taken away from you at any time.
You can still purchase iPhoto on Amazon as part of iLife 11 but it will not be the latest version.

It should be in your purchases in the App store
Basically you download form the original source which probably is the App store

Didn't you backup your hard drive before erasing the reinstalling the system? iPhoto will be in the backup and can be restored from there.
also, photos took its place and you could download it and convert your library to view the pictures.

Not quite true. Photos is part of the 10.10.3 system upgrade and one must upgrade to 10.10.3 in order to get Photos.
