OS X Yosmite distorts my screen

I downloaded OS X Yosemite to my MacPro and now when I reboot, my screen is distorted for a brief moment. And, I am constantly prompted to download Java. How do i repair this issue?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.

(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive & clear caches.)

If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.
