Why won't itunes launch on my HP dv6 widows 7 x64

I seem to not be able to launch itunes on my HP pavilion dv6. I just got an ipod nano 7th and the guy at the providence genius bar said we were waiting on a fix. Has anyone got any news/ I would love to use it. I have an old 256Mhz PC running XP x64 but its so slow and acts up when I use my passport external Hard drive where my itunes library resides. It figures this updated version doent work now that I have a brand new ipod nano
